Golden Valley management services firm gains recognition from Mayor Shep Harris after surpassing goals for employee volunteerism.
February 27, 2013 – Golden Valley, Minn. – Orion Associates, a management services firm, was recognized recently by Golden Valley Mayor Shep Harris for reaching a milestone for employee volunteerism within the organization. Orion achieved its goal of 100% employee participation in volunteer activities in 2012.
“While I had been familiar with Orion Associates through my professional work, it was my visit to your offices last year when I was astonished by the quantity and quality of volunteerism you put forth through the Headwaters Relief Organization. I was further impressed to see how this ethic of volunteerism is truly woven into the fabric of Orion Associates,” wrote Mayor Harris in his letter dated February 14, 2013 to Orion CEO Rebecca Thomley. “It is no surprise that a company goal of 100% participation would be set. But to have over 177 employees offer more than 3700 hours is quite the standard to set! This should be an example to all organizations in Golden Valley, Minnesota and our country.”
In 2009, Orion Associates created an internal goal to have 90% of its employees engaged in volunteer activities. As a result, the organization reported employee volunteerism rates of 90% in 2010, 97% in 2011 and 100% in 2012. A contributor to the volunteer rates has been the growth ofHeadwaters Disaster Relief Organization, a non-profit organization created by Dr. Thomley that supports both the emotional and housing rehabilitation needs of families and communities ravaged by disaster.
